The FIFA Master is a unique 10-month sport (and not solely football...) Master programme, initiated by FIFA, coordinated by CIES, and taught by three prestigious European universities: De Montfort University (Leicester, UK), SDA Bocconi School of Management (Milan, IT) and Neuchatel University (Neuchatel, CH), in association with the Università della Svizzera italiana.

A CIES delegation visited Palestine February from 23rd to 25th February 2009 with the aim of discussing the organisation of the FIFA/CIES Programme of Sport Management with the Bir Zeit University located in Ramallah.
The delegation met Dr Nabeel Kassis, President of the Bir Zeit University, Dr Jibril Al Rajoub, President of the Palestinian Football Association (PFA) as well as representatives of the ministry of sport and the ministry of education. Several fruitful meetings lead to the decision to finalise the project which is supported financially by FIFA. The first programme should start in November 2009.
“We are delighted to be associated with a genuine international network that already comprises 9 universities and will grow in the coming years” stated Dr Kassis. “Palestine needs such projects. They will enable us to develop a sport culture that almost does not exist here”.
During a workshop organised under the auspices of the PFA and the Bir Zeit University, CIES had the opportunity to meet some of the main actors in Palestinian sport, and to identify their particular needs. The participants underlined the great interest of CIES philosophy to adapt modern management tools to local realities.

Une délégation du CIES a effectué une visite en Palestine du 23 au 25 février afin de discuter de l’organisation du Programme de management sportif FIFA/CIES avec l’université de Bir Zeit située à Ramallah.
A cette occasion, la délégation a rencontré Dr Nabeel Kassis, président de l’Université Bir Zeit, Dr Jibril Al Rajoub, Président de la Palestinian Football Federation (PFA), ainsi que des représentants des ministères de l’éducation et des sports. Suite à plusieurs réunions fructueuses, il a été décidé finaliser le projet de coopération qui sera soutenu financièrement par la FIFA. Le premier cours devrait commencer au mois de novembre 2009.
« C’est un grand plaisir que d’être associé à un véritable réseau international qui comprend déjà 9 université et qui va croître dans les prochaines années. La Palestine a besoin de tel projet qui lui permettront de développer une culture sportive encore inexistante.» a souligné Dr Kassis.
Lors d’un workshop organisé à l’instigation de la PFA et la Bir Zeit University, le CIES a rencontré quelques-uns des principaux acteurs du sport palestinien. Il a pu ainsi identifier les besoins particuliers du sport palestinien. Les participants ont souligné le grand intérêt de la philosophie du CIES qui est d’adapter les instruments de management aux réalités locales.

Una delegación del CIES visitó Palestina entre el 23 y el 25 de febrero con
el objetivo de discutir sobre la organización del Programa de Management del
Deporte FIFA/CIES en cooperación con la Universidad Bir Zeit en Ramallah.
La delegación se reunió con el Dr. Nabeel Kassis, Presidente de la
Universidad Bir Zeit, Dr. Jubril Al Rahoub, Presidente de la Palestinian
Football Association (PFA), así como con representantes del ministerio del
deporte del ministerio de educación. Después de discusiones fructuosas, los
participantes han decidido finalizar el proyecto apoyado económicamente por
la FIFA. El primer programa ya podrá ser organizado en noviembre de 2009.
"Es una gran satisfacción para nosotros estar asociado a una verdadera red
que ya consta de 9 universidades y va a desarrollarse en los próximos años"
subrayó Dr. Kassis "Palestina necesita tales proyectos para que podamos
desarrollar una cultura deportiva que casi no existía".
Durante un taller organizado bajo los auspicios de la PFA y de la
Universidad Bir Zeit, el CIES tuvo la oportunidad de encontrar a algunos de
los actores más importantes del deporte en Palestina e identificar sus
necesidades. Los participantes han valorado la filosofía del CIES que
consiste en adaptar modernos métodos de gestión a las realidades locales.
